Placeholder image disapproved

What Google's message means

Google recognised the main image as a generic placeholder — a logo, a 'no image' graphic, or the same stock image used across many products.

Disapproved until the image shows the actual product; a placeholder tells shoppers nothing and Google treats it as no image.

The fix in Shopify

  1. Products → the product → Media: delete the logo, ‘no image’ graphic or shared stock photo, upload a real photo of this product and drag it first. Save.
  2. The photo: the product alone on a plain white or light background, at least 800 × 800 px, JPEG, PNG or WebP, no text, badge, logo, watermark or border.
  3. Google re-checks the product at its next crawl (usually within a day); the next RevenueCue scan confirms it's clear.

The fix in WooCommerce

  1. A product with no image sends WooCommerce's placeholder (WooCommerce → Settings → Products → Placeholder image). Give each product its own: Products → the product → Product image → Set product image. Update.
  2. The photo: the product alone on a plain white or light background, at least 800 × 800 px, JPEG, PNG or WebP, no text, badge, logo, watermark or border.
  3. Google re-checks the product at its next crawl (usually within a day); the next RevenueCue scan confirms it's clear.

What it costs while it's down

Every product Google flags this way is out of Google Shopping — no ads, no free listing — until it's fixed. Its listed price is what isn't being shown; a free scan names each product and adds up the listed value at stake.
