Promotional overlay on product images

What Google's message means

The main image (image_link) carries promotional text, a badge, a logo, a watermark or a border. Google's image policy allows only the product on a plain background.

Disapproved across Shopping ads and free listings until a clean image is the main image — Google will not put a promotional graphic next to other sellers' clean ones.

The fix in Shopify

  1. The photo: the product alone on a plain white or light background, at least 800 × 800 px, JPEG, PNG or WebP, no text, badge, logo, watermark or border.
  2. Products → the product → Media → upload the photo and drag it to the first position (the first image is the one Google uses). Save.
  3. Keep promotional or lifestyle images after the first one, and only without text on them.
  4. Google re-checks the product at its next crawl (usually within a day); the next RevenueCue scan confirms it's clear.

The fix in WooCommerce

  1. The photo: the product alone on a plain white or light background, at least 800 × 800 px, JPEG, PNG or WebP, no text, badge, logo, watermark or border.
  2. Products → the product → Product image (right-hand column) → Set product image → upload the photo. Update. The product image is the one Google uses; Product gallery images go as extra images.
  3. Keep promotional or lifestyle images in the Product gallery, and only without text on them.
  4. Google re-checks the product at its next crawl (usually within a day); the next RevenueCue scan confirms it's clear.

What it costs while it's down

Every product Google flags this way is out of Google Shopping — no ads, no free listing — until it's fixed. Its listed price is what isn't being shown; a free scan names each product and adds up the listed value at stake.
