“Price replaced from the page” (automatic item updates)

What Google's message means

Automatic improvements found the feed price differed from the page and replaced it with the page's price. The product kept serving, but with a number your feed did not send.

Nothing is blocked today, but the feed is out of sync: if Google ever cannot read the page price it falls back to disapproving the product for a price mismatch, and any ad bid or promotion you set against the feed price is off.

The fix in Shopify

  1. Products → the product → each variant → Price = what the shopper pays; Compare-at price = the crossed-out price, only while a discount runs. Save.
  2. Change prices in Shopify only — not with a theme script or a pricing app that edits the page without changing the variant — so the app sends the same price the page shows.
  3. Keep Automatic improvements → Item updates → Price on in Merchant Center (Settings → Automatic improvements) as the safety net.

The fix in WooCommerce

  1. Products → the product → Product data → General: Regular price = the normal price; Sale price = the discounted price, with Schedule dates if the sale ends. Update. For a variable product, set them on each variation.
  2. Marketing → Google for WooCommerce → Product feed: the sync status should be current; products sync on save, so a bulk price change by SQL or CSV import needs each product saved again.
  3. Clear the page cache after stock or price changes (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache → Purge all), or Google reads an old copy of the page.
  4. Keep Automatic improvements → Item updates → Price on in Merchant Center (Settings → Automatic improvements) as the safety net.

What it costs while it's down

Nothing is out of Shopping today: the product still serves. If Google can no longer correct it, the listed price of every product flagged this way drops out until it's fixed; a free scan names each one.

Enter your store's domain. The scan reads your public catalogue the way Googlebot does, names every product behind each leak and shows the listed value affected.
